Professional Photographers of America to Sponsor Imaging USA Scholarships
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 28, 2013 -- For the first time ever, Professional Photographers of America (PPA) will award scholarships for its annual convention, Imaging USA.
PPA promotes the importance of continuing education for photographers, as evidenced by its one-of-a-kind online and offline learning platform, PPAedu. Understanding that photographers allocate a certain budget for education each year, PPA decided to put its money where its mouth is and send a few lucky members to Phoenix, Ariz., for some free business classes at Imaging USA in January. The result is the PPA Kickstart Scholarship.
PPAedu is sponsoring four full-scholarships for Imaging USA pre-convention classes, held the three days prior to the January 12 to 14 convention. Winners will get to choose from three available classes for an extra learning boost before Imaging USA officially begins.
“The PPA Kickstart Scholarship is something we’ve never done before,” said Kristen Hartman, PPA’s director of member value and experience. “We’re always looking for new ways to assist our members and move the industry forward—what better way than to foot the bill and help a few photographers be more educated?”
To be eligible, photographers must be a member of PPA in good standing, have previously attended a pre-convention class and have not previously received a scholarship from PPA.
Applications must be submitted by October 31 and winners will be chosen by mid-November.
Recipients will choose from either a two-day workshop on the business side of photography, one full-day workshop or up to three, two-hour, hands-on photography sessions. The value of a scholarship will range from $129 to $299.
