SYRACUSE, N.Y., Sept. 6, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ProLiteracy, the largest national adult literacy nonprofit organization in the United States announced a series of new education initiatives that will impact its mission of changing lives and communities through the power of adult literacy.
The $600,000 investment will be allocated to six new ProLiteracy initiatives that will focus on the organizational strategies related to educational resources, professional development, advocacy, and sustainability. Almost one-third of the investment, $182,000, is being allocated to launching the following two projects that will focus directly on the changing needs of adult education and literacy providers in 2021 and beyond:
- "Learning From a Distance" training package. This comprehensive professional development tool will include the training and tools providers need to implement various types of distance education models in their own instructional programs.
- The Laubach Way to Reading—Spanish app. Building on the historical success of the Laubach Way to Reading method, this new app will allow adult students in Latin America who don't have access to reliable internet connectivity to access education content.

We are fortunate that through individual donations, bequests, fees for services, and our investment portfolio, the organization's net assets have increased 350 percent since 2013. The board of directors has approved an annual spend down of 5 percent of board-designated endowment to underwrite new initiatives to scale our impact."
Morgan added "The board recently approved a number of requests that focus on ProLiteracy's key strategic goals of professional development, education resources, and advocacy to benefit adult literacy programs in the field."
