Besides accompanying children on their escapades, or organizing a chaperone, there is no way to guarantee a child's safety when they're visiting every house in a neighborhood. But one simple and effective method is to use state specific sex offender registries, many of which are published online. Sex offenders are required by law to share their whereabouts, names and addresses with local law enforcement across the country. These lists are updated frequently in an effort to protect those around the released offender.
