Proxy for Android Gives Unrestricted Private Internet to Office Staff
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) August 07, 2013 -- idcloak publishes a new article, Proxy for Android: How to Bypass Proxy Server Restrictions On Company WiFi, which explains how Android users suffering content restrictions on office internet connections may employ a simple free tool to circumvent the block.
The solution proposed in the article is to use Opera Mobile with an HTTPS proxy from an IP address proxy list.
Robin Welles, idcloak’s senior researcher and author of the article, explains: “Company WiFi connections manage blacklists of sites that they do not wish to be accessed. But if a user connects to a server outside the network and only then accesses a blocked site, they will circumvent the restriction. Our free proxy list gives them the tools they need to do this.”
The article also explains how the encryption used by HTTPS proxies prevents company network administrators from seeing what content is being accessed through the proxy.
On whether she felt employees should be allowed to undermine company internet censorship, Welles expresses ambivalence: “Of course we do not advocate a complete undermining of company censorship systems – they are put in place for good reason. However, sites like Facebook are no longer just sites for socializing; they are now used for communicating important information amongst family and friends. There are some occasions when it is unreasonable to forbid access to these important mediums.”
Welles believes HTTPS proxies also serve a wider privacy function. “There are times when an employee wants to use the internet at work for private matters – for example searching about a health problem. An HTTPS proxy allows them to do what they need to do online without worrying whether their IT department has seen or recorded the activity.”
