FREMONT, Calif., July 29, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Consistent with the purpose and mission of the PSTA, the PSTA Board of Directors is pleased to release the Identity/Single Sign-On Technical Subcommittee report (https://www.pstalliance.org/technical-committees/subcommittee-report-and-comment-form/) which includes the initial PSTA recommendations for public safety and industry.
The Identity/Single Sign-On Subcommittee was established to recommend a best-in-class single sign on (SSO) platform based on a well-defined open standard architecture with combined elements and network modules/solutions for public safety.
The Subcommittee's recommendations are being made based on input and ongoing discussion among PSTA industry and public safety membership, and have been formulated leveraging this industry and public safety expertise as well as publicly available standards and related information.
"User identity facilitates access to the critical information necessary for first responders to perform their duties," said Identity Subcommittee Chair Ashish Kakkad, CIO, San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
"The PSTA is confident in its recommendation of SAML 2.0 and OpenID as the preferred IDAM standards based on maturity, adoption, security and functionality. It also goes in line with 3GPP MCX recommendations and will help to advance efficiency of first responders' use of the technology," added Identity Subcommittee member Anatoli Levine, Softil, Ltd.
Additional input from public safety and industry are welcome on these and future recommendations.
"Given the pace at which technology is moving, and in particular the roll out of mission critical broadband services, most PSTA recommendations will evolve over time," noted Maggie Goodrich, PSTA Board Chair. "As such, we welcome and encourage additional and ongoing input from interested parties. Continued open discussion is one way we hope to ensure alignment across the public safety market and community."
As PSTA considers additional, relevant, information provided within the Identity/Single Sign-On Subcommittee, it will update and release any changes to its recommendations as necessary. The current report version will be posted on the PSTA website (http://www.pstalliance.org) and will be open and accessible to the public.
