By activating hospitals while still on scene, Cath Lab teams can be mobilized and ready for the patient prior to arrival. A September 2018 ACTION Registry study published by JACC Cardiovascular Interventions concluded that when Cath Labs are mobilized at least 10 minutes prior to patient arrival, patients spend less time between hospital arrival and cath lab arrival (17 vs. 28 min), have shorter door-to-device times (40 vs 52 min), and achieve FMC-to-device time less than 90 min (77% vs 69%). The study showed that the 10 minute pre-activation notification occurred in only 41% of the potential cases.
