Mental health problems are so widespread, so common, and now we are encouraging that the stigma should be eradicated.

“Push Forward: Tira Avanti” (published by Archway Publishing) by I.R. Thornton and Joey Tomaselli is the real-life story of Tomaselli, a child soccer prodigy who was derailed by obsessive-compulsive disorder, addiction, anxiety, depression and phobia.

When Tomaselli’s life imploded, he searched for the answer to his illnesses while wading through quacks and charlatans. “Push Forward” is presented as a redemptive tale about Tomaselli’s struggles to find answers after having suffered for years. Thornton shows the value in sourcing the real root of an issue, for answers can be found in unexpected places and people often have to seek out second, third and fourth opinions.

“Mental health problems are so widespread, so common, and now we are encouraging that the stigma should be eradicated. I think ‘Push Forward’ will appeal to someone who needs a boost and real hope when they are feeling down,” Thornton explains. “I want to show them by persevering and believing, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I nearly ended it all, there is always hope.”
