PVUMC Announces Community Concert Series 2016-2017
Paradise Valley, AZ (PRWEB) September 23, 2016 -- Paradise Valley United Methodist Church announces the PVUMC 2016-2017 Community Concert Series: Music for Everyone. This year’s line-up includes “Songs of the Wandering Minstrel” with Solis Camerata and Bartholomew Faire on September 30, 2016 and “A Night on Broadway” with PVUMC soloists, ensembles and professional musicians on October 21, 2016. In November, internationally known Run Boy Run entertains us with their unique blend of folk and bluegrass music which was featured twice on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor.
For all the PVUMC concerts, RSVPs are encouraged at Eventbrite. There are no tickets or fees. Free-will offerings are taken at each event in support of the performers and series. Most concerts are at 7 pm on Fridays, with one concert each month from now until the end of the year.
In addition to no tickets or fees, free childcare is available with a 48-hour reservation. Please call the church at 602-840-8360, ext 134 at least 48 hours before the event to reserve childcare. To cancel childcare, even at the last minute, please call the number again.

Celebrate song and dance of the Medieval pilgrimage with a joyful collaboration of instruments and voices. From Chaucer’s Canterbury to Spain's Compostela, come hear music from the Red Book of Montserrat, Mauchaut’s dance music, and court music from the time of King Henry VIII.

A Night on Broadway
Enjoy selections from famous Broadway musicals, featuring the talented musicians of PVUMC. The concert includes solo and ensemble numbers from both professional vocalists and talented volunteers of all ages, who are accompanied by a live band. Tommy Strawser, assistant music and arts director at PVUMC, emcees the performance.

Run Boy Run
Run Boy Run's all-acoustic format blends bluegrass and folk, rooted in the traditional music of the Appalachian South. Strong female voices combined with award-winning fiddlers weave a tapestry of sound which holds their audiences captive. Run Boy Run recently performed at the Pickin' in the Pines festival in Flagstaff, at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and twice on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion on NPR.

Usher in the Christmas season with the PVUMC Christmas Concert. This event weaves music, poetic texts and audience sing-a-longs for an uplifting evening. Children, youth and adults perform some of the best Advent and Christmas choir, handbell and instrumental music. A dessert reception follows in the Fellowship Center.

Mill Ave Chamber Players
Embarking on its ninth season, the Mill Ave Chamber Players is a professional chamber music ensemble based in Phoenix, Arizona. This classical concert features Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds as well as Poulenc’s Sextet for Piano and Wind Quintet. The woodwind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon) will be joined by pianist Andria Fennig.

Dueling Divas: Americana
PVUMC’s own director of music and arts ministries, Ashley Snavley, and contemporary worship leader and accompanist, Andria Fennig, are back by popular demand. Last year, the Dueling Divas made their debut, and released their first CD: Two Grands, Four Hands: Live at PVUMC. Their new four-hand piano concert will feature popular orchestral, stage, and solo works from American composers, including Sondheim, Bernstein, and Gershwin.

Chuck Hall and Hans Olson
Enjoy the beautiful outdoor space of the Paradise Perk patio, as you listen to iconic blues artists Chuck Hall and Hans Olson. Both are nationally recognized for their musical performances and songwriting, making this concert a must for blues aficionados. The Perk will be open, selling hot or cold beverages and snacks, and proceeds support youth missions.
