PIA executive team taps the energy and talent of veteran print bindery owner Kathie Hartmans of Quality Bindery & Mailing Services for 2019-2020 chairwoman position.
BUFFALO, N.Y., Sept. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Kathleen "Kathie" Hartmans, co-founder and president of Quality Bindery & Mailing Services (QBS) of Buffalo, New York was elected chairwoman for the 2019-2020 Executive Committee of the Printing Industries Alliance (PIA) 2019-2020.
Printing Industries Alliance is a trade association composed of firms involved in the business of graphic communications in New York State, Northern New Jersey, and Northwestern Pennsylvania. The Association is committed to promoting the value of graphic communications and increasing the profitability of member firms.
As the business owner of a 26-year award-winning post-press print bindery, hardcover and softcover bookbinder, and mailing services company, Hartmans joined PIA in 1993 and has been a director since 2003. Before her election as chairwoman, she served as vice chair, treasurer, and secretary. Notably, Hartmans is the second female chair and the first non-printer to be elected to the position. Involvement in the PIA provides entrepreneur Hartmans with a way to combine her passion for the print and book industries while helping businesses in the trade succeed.
Hartmans will be the chairwoman for a one-year term and serves with vice-chairman, Glen Boehmer, CEO of Sentinel Innovation, Hempstead, New York; treasurer, David Carver, value stream manager of Nosco, Lockport, New York; and secretary, Adam Avrick, CEO of Design Distributors of Deer Park, New York.
"It's a great honor to serve as chairwoman of the PIA. I'm fully vested in the organization and the many benefits it offers its members to promote a positive business climate," said Kathie Hartmans. "From savings on workers' compensation insurance to free OSHA training to help with human resource solutions and more, PIA member companies can establish a presence far beyond what is achievable on an individual basis."
In announcing Hartmans' election, PIA President Tim Freeman stated, "Kathie Hartmans has been a leader in our industry for many years, and it is a real honor for us to have her as Chairwoman of PIA. She is a true advocate for 'Paper-Print-Mail' as a vital component of the US economy and a tireless worker on behalf of PIA. We are looking forward to a successful (and fun) year with Kathie at the helm!"
Hartmans is a born and raised Buffalo booster. Before founding QBS, her years in the hospitality industry and with the Buffalo Convention and Visitor's Bureau helped her hone her sales and management skills. While at the Bureau, one of her achievements was establishing the Buffalo Ambassadors' Program. Over the last 26 years, Hartmans has contributed to both the print industry and the community. She received the 2002 Printing Executive of the Year Award from the Printing and Imaging Association of Buffalo in recognition of her contributions. She served as president of the local PIA Chapter 2001-2002, and Hartmans received the 2002 Pathfinder Award from the Buffalo Alliance for Education. She is a 2001 graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Management Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.
