Quill Marketplace acquires production company Origins Media Haus to continue supporting brands moving into podcasting
TORONTO (PRWEB) April 28, 2021 -- Quill Inc., the world’s first dedicated creation hub for podcasters today announces the acquisition of Origins Media Haus, a marketing agency focused on podcasts and video. The acquisition comes just eight months after Quill’s launch and on the heels of the podcast industry’s continued exponential growth, a phenomenon that has been compounded by the global pandemic, signalling a strong new era for quality podcasts.
With this acquisition, Quill is growing an agency umbrella alongside their marketplace to start taking shows from ideation and production through to marketing.
“We believe podcasts are the single most important content and advertising medium on the market today," said Fatima Zaidi, Co-founder and CEO of Quill. "Podcasts have incredible influence through high-quality content, and have demonstrated they can attract extremely dedicated and large audiences at a fraction of the cost that you’d spend on traditional advertising methods. We understand that creating a good show is only half the work, and the other half is driving listeners and audience growth. In partnership with Origins Media Haus, we’ve already produced some incredible results for our clients. This is a natural next step that will allow us to continue to produce effective shows and deliver them to the listeners who crave them.”
"Our mission at Origins Media Haus has been to elevate the podcast industry. By joining Quill, we’re able to execute that mission at a larger scale,” said Stephanie Andrews, Co-founder and CEO of Origins Media Haus and new Head of Production, Quill. “Podcasting is the future. The audio format fits our busy lifestyles today, and the medium offers such a rich resource for continuous learning from trusted voices and niche subject matter experts. Collectively as a team, we’re excited to make more of an impact on the future of this industry and support the growth of new creatives coming into the space.”
Quill and Origins Media Haus have already partnered on successful brand podcasts for Field Trip Health, Axway, Bay Street Bull and RBC Disruptors. Not only have they created high quality content, but consistently doubled audience growth month-after-month. Shows like RBC Disruptors have also ranked on Apple podcast charts at #2 for the entrepreneurship category, alongside the Tim Ferriss and Gary Vaynerchuk shows. Quill will be absorbing the Origins Media Haus team and clients, and together they’ll continue producing top quality shows.
Since the wildly popular true crime show Serial became the first "water-cooler podcast" five years ago, podcasts have risen in popularity and solidified as a serious content and marketing segment. Between 2018 and 2019, the global podcast advertising market rose by an estimated 42% and is expected to top $1billion by 2021. Podcasts have only strengthened during the Global pandemic, due in part to their ability to release content and information quickly, and the increase in content consumption while audiences have been at home. Global podcast listenership rose by 42% in April, with rates increasing by 29% and 25% in Italy and Spain. Podcasts also attract extremely loyal listeners — 80% of podcast consumers listen to most or all of an episode and listen to an average of seven different shows per week, representing an ideal target for branded marketing purposes.
Next year, Quill is planning to bring its agency model to life with the Listen In podcasting conference in Los Angeles in March 2021 to bring together professionals in the industry, and further supports brands moving into podcasting. The conference will be similar to Content Marketing World but focused specifically on how businesses can leverage podcasts as an avenue for content creation and advertising.
The confirmed headliner is Sarah Koenig, Host and Co-Creator of the Serial podcast, and additional speakers include organizations like Salesforce, Glassdoor, Bank of America, American Airlines, Wondery, and Libsyn.
Founded by Fatima Zaidi, a sales expert who has spent a decade working in marketing and sales, and Jay Roberts, a Cornell MBA with a background in finance and operations, Quill also has an advisory board that includes Dragons’ Den star Michele Romanow and venture capitalist Bruce Croxon.
