Mayor Boland and other Local Dignitaries to Usher in Next Chapter of Historic Downtown Corning Hotel as it Prepares to Convert to Hilton
CORNING, N.Y., Sept. 27, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In its 50th golden year of operations, the Radisson Corning is set to undergo a massive, multimillion dollar property-wide renovation spearheaded by the award-winning hospitality design firm, O'Kelly Kasprak, before converting to a Hilton flag in the spring. The next big chapter of this historic hotel located in the heart of the downtown Gaffer District will officially launch on October 13th with a groundbreaking ceremony and business after hours party attended by Corning Mayor William Boland and other dignitaries, local business leaders, and members of the community in which the Radisson has faithfully served for a half century.
"We've been a community anchor for the last 50 years and look forward to transforming into a modern, state-of-the-art hotel that will continue to shine in the Crystal City for the next 50," says Radisson Corning General Manager Marisa Thomas, who also confirms that the hotel will remain open throughout renovations.
At 5 pm, the business after hours party will open to the public (registration recommended at https://www.corningny.com/events/details/business-after-hours-radisson-renovation-kickoff-13989) in the hotel lobby, restaurant, and bar with live music by Brian Hughes, complimentary food and drinks, and tours of model rooms. At 6 pm, a groundbreaking ceremony will ensue that includes short speeches and a special "first swing" (of the sledgehammer) photo op with the Mayor, the Chamber of Commerce President, and the hotel team. At 7 pm, the celebration will continue at the hotel's outdoor entertainment venue, Market Street Social, where more live music from Virgil Cain will keep the party going until 10 pm. In addition, guests of the groundbreaking event will be eligible to win a trip to Florida presented by the hotel's management group, Core Hotels & Resorts, as well as a lavish staycation in Corning after the Radisson converts next year to DoubleTree by Hilton.
"Everyone in the community should feel like they're part of the story and evolution of this hotel," adds Michael Payne with Core Hotels & Resorts. "We're grateful for all our neighbors and businesses in Corning who've been our partners in welcoming guests for five decades and we're thrilled to begin our next chapter."
