Radon Environmental's Bark Side Will Make Schools Aware
Citizens for Radioactive Radon Reduction ties Radon Environmental's Bark Side of Radon campaign to the Teachers for Radon Reduction initiative to increase radon testing and mitigation in schools.
WATERLOO, Ill., Jan. 5, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Citizens for Radioactive Radon Reduction (CR3), a radon reduction advocacy 501c3 nonprofit organization serving the radon and lung cancer community, today announced the initiation of a focus on Radon Environmental's "Bark Side of Radon" endeavor by tying it to their "Teachers for Radon Reduction" campaign to test all schools in the U.S. for radon gas. This program will introduce a new stimulus and encouragement to testing for radioactive radon gas exposure in residences and promote mitigation to reduce elevated levels of this carcinogen. Through this effort, CR3 will awaken pet owners and veterinarians to an influencer that will advance pet and human health.
According to a 2015 Harris poll, more than three in five Americans (62%) have at least one pet in their household, with ownership highest among the two youngest generations tested (65% among Millennials, 71% among Gen X).
With radon being the second leading cause of lung cancer and number one among non-smokers, radon awareness is increasing strong initiatives by organizations fighting to improve lung cancer survival, health and indoor air quality which are critical for success. CR3's advocacy channel has increased over the past 24 months. Members are joining because of their own experiences with cancer and radon and are eager to share their experiences and knowledge about the danger of radioactive radon gas exposure as they advocate for legislation and increased testing in areas where children are spending most of their time.
"While we will continue to advocate for homeowners and landlords to test their properties for radon gas, getting entire communities involved to insure the safe and healthy environment for children in schools and day care facilities is a must," says Gloria Linnertz, Director of CR3. "By providing information to the schools and veterinarians, we hope to encourage children to inspire their parents to test their homes."
"There is a high frequency of radon campaigns being deployed for January's National Radon Action Month; however, the influence still remains somewhat low," stated Jackie Nixon, Director of Marketing for CR3. "We are thrilled to be chosen to implement such a positive and powerful initiative with Radon Environmental to bring such an important message to people and maybe save some lives."
