Several imaging and quality experts will discuss ways to optimize imaging practices. Speakers will address a number of provider and payer initiatives, including new benchmarks under development by the eValue8™ Medical Imaging Quality Workgroup. The Workgroup is sponsored by the National Alliance for Healthcare Purchasing Coalitions and supported by RadSite, among other stakeholders.
The webinar will feature the following speakers:
- Patrick Browning, MD, Chief Medical Officer, RadSite
- John R. Miller, eValue8 Affinity Chair, National Alliance for Healthcare Purchasing Coalitions
- Suresh K. Mukherji, MD, MBA, FACR, Neuroradiologist
- Moderator: Garry Carneal, JD, President & CEO, RadSite
John Miller notes that, “eValue8 was created by business coalitions and employers like US Bank, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Marriott International to define, measure, and evaluate health plan performance. They want evidence that they are purchasing quality health care and demand administrative excellence and consumer satisfaction at cost-effective prices.” Miller adds, “the imaging performance benchmarks identified by the Workgroup represent an important next step to help payers identify ‘best in class’ imaging providers.”
“Determining what constitutes high-quality imaging is easier said than done,” notes Suresh K. Mukherji, MD. “The Workgroup met over a period of six months to help identify the key elements of eValue8’s request for information (RFI) health plan survey. It includes key areas such as physics testing requirements for imaging equipment, the clinical peer review process, utilization management oversight, and the emergence of new imaging systems such as Cone Beam CT, as well as many other issues.”
“As a former medical director for a large radiology benefit manager (RBM), I know how important it is to ensure each patient is being imaged at the right location at the right time for the right reason,” adds Patrick Browning, MD. “The Workgroup brought together a wide range of experts to identify key factors that can help optimize patient outcomes when diagnostic imaging exams are involved. The webinar will highlight some of those discussions and how the final RFI questions were selected.”
The speakers also will address next steps after the results are reported back to the National Alliance later this year, and how those findings might be used for value-based imaging purchasing initiatives in the future.
