LILLINGTON, N.C., Apr. 26, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® (RRAR) received a Placemaking Grant from the National Association of REALTORS® to help enhance Harnett County's outdoor amenities through the creation of the very first Storybook Trail in Harnett County's Cape Fear Shiner Park.
RRAR worked in partnership with Harnett County Parks and Recreation, the Harnett County Library, and Raleigh Sign Design to create the infrastructure and design materials for this project.
A Storybook Trail is a fun, educational activity that places the pages from a children's story along a trail in a community. It is for children of all levels to enjoy the outdoors and read a book with their family and friends. A Storybook Trail helps build children's' interest in reading while encouraging healthy outdoor physical fitness.
"REALTORS® live, work, and volunteer in their communities and take immense pride in working to improve them," said Brett Bushnell, 2021 President of RRAR. "Placemaking helps foster healthier, more social, and economically viable communities. It creates places where people feel a strong stake in their neighborhoods and are committed to making things better."
Placemaking grants are awarded to local and state REALTOR® associations throughout the nation to help create new public spaces and destinations in their community. The Storybook Trail at Cape Fear Shiner Park will officially open Thursday, April 29th.
"We are so excited about the opportunity to work alongside community partners to bring a first of its kind destination to the newest park in Harnett County," said Andrew Sims, CEO of RRAR. "RRAR Members throughout Harnett County and our Association leadership and staff look forward to continued partnership with elected leaders, local staff, and community organizations on future projects that continue to make this region a great place to live."
