RBMA Supports Baton Rouge Area Foundation Flood Relief Fund
Fairfax, VA (PRWEB) September 19, 2016 -- The torrential mid-August rains that flooded large areas of southern Louisiana killed 13 people and may have caused as much as $10 billion to $15 billion in property damages making it one of the worst U.S. natural disasters since Hurricane Sandy in 2012, according to the Red Cross.
The Radiology Business Management Association, which will hold its Fall Education Conference in New Orleans from Sept. 25-27, 2016, has created a fundraising challenge to help communities affected by the flooding. The goal is to raise at least $5,000 for the not-for-profit Baton Rouge Area Foundation, one of the nation’s largest and most well established community foundations. Founded in 1964, BRAF is using its deep ties and close knowledge of the region to help victims of the flood by providing them with resources they need to recover. Experts estimate that as many as 110,000 homes may have been damaged by flooding, and because private residential insurance typically do not protect against flooding, the majority of home owners will face a struggle to replace what was lost even with charitable donations and help from the federal government.
“As business owners, employers and health care providers in our own communities, RBMA members understand both the economic consequences and personal heartbreak of a disaster such as this,” said RBMA President, Jim Hamilton, MHA, CMM, FRBMA. “In conjunction with our Fall Educational Conference in New Orleans, we are encouraging all our members to join together and make a difference for the people of Louisiana.”
Donations can be made online before, during and after the RBMA Fall Educational Conference on a dedicated RBMA fundraising webpage. Please join our team and help make a difference here.
