Re-evaluating MEA Approved OQ Evaluators
Eagan, MN (PRWEB) December 23, 2013 -- Operator Qualification has played a role over the last 10 years in shaping our workforce and because it's been 10 years there are times when it doesn't get the consideration it requires. Like any industry we rely on our workforce to operate and maintain the infrastructure and keep the public safe, the natural gas industry does this with OQ evaluators. Those who are members of this work group have done a great job of fulfilling their roles in keeping the energy industry safe. For those who are responsible for administering OQ Programs they too have done an admirable job insuring people are trained, tested and evaluated. MEA is supporting these efforts by implementing new requirements for MEA approved OQ evaluators.
MEA approved OQ evaluators will need to be re-trained and qualified every three years. Current evaluators who trained three or more years ago must retake the Train the Evaluator training before January 1, 2015. Those evaluators trained since January 1, 2010 will be able to take an online course in EnergyU to satisfy the three year requirement beginning January 1, 2014. MEA is offering monthly training sessions in Minneapolis, MN.
Upcoming sessions:
January 23 - Minneapolis, MN
February 17 - Green Bay, WI
February 19 - Minneapolis, MN
March 19 - Minneapolis, MN
Train the Evaluator is tailored to meet the needs of the operators of natural gas pipelines who must comply with the federally mandated operator qualifications program. This course provides information on the theory of evaluation, but its strength is in providing useful information and hands-on practice for conducting credible performance evaluations. The training session covers:
• Tips for handling problem situations
• Reliability and Validity
• Evaluation exercises
• Interrater reliability
• EnergyU orientation
• Using observation skills
• Various practice exercises
• Tips for Evaluator response to evaluatee questions
