Read About How Skeptics Can Believe God Exists in James Polson's New Book
We hear and read about people being converted to the side of God because of miracles in their lives, but what about the rest who continue questioning the validity of these stories? In his new book published by Elm Hill, James B. Polson shares a personal account of his spiritual journey, from being a skeptic living in fear of damnation to a scholar with steadfast faith in Him.
TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- James B. Polson's new book, Can a Skeptic Believe In God? , presents the journey to uncovering the truth about God's existence and begins with one's willingness to learn it. The author was raised to be a believer in Jesus, the Son of God, which lasted until he grew and entered college surrounded by peers who wanted more concrete answers beyond simply having faith. His lack of answers pushed him further away from his faith until he eventually quit praying and reading the Bible altogether. This is a scenario with many skeptics of today.
"Lord, I don't know for sure how to believe, and I am a skeptic; I am still not 100% convinced in my heart that you are truly God, but I am making a commitment right now," the author shares about his inner conflict, which many of us also feel. He vows to put his trust in the Lord, which is something easier said than done. "In the best way that I know how, I am placing my eternal destiny in Your hands. Please forgive my sins. Please save me. I am depending on You."
Aside from presenting the state of mind of many people questioning the basis of faith, the book mentions different prophecies in the Bible which run parallel with modern-day events. For these events to occur under the predicted circumstances is highly unlikely in the mathematical sense, says the author. Thus, this should be sound enough logic for even the most hard-pressed skeptic. James also says the reason these prophecies are written with such accuracy is because their authors were inspired by God, He who sees and knows everything that is yet to come.
James then advises his readers to seek the truth for themselves as God will provide the answers to those who believe. "God did not despise my need to have evidence and reason to underpin my faith in Him. Rather, He graciously met my need, and for that I am eternally grateful. I believe, with all my heart, He will do the same for you, if you seek His truth with an open mind." He tells readers that in order to learn about the existence of God, one must be willing to seek and accept the truth.
Author James Polson is an academic with a strong love for the sciences. After earning his Ph.D. in pharmacology, he spent over three decades learning more about his field and sharing his knowledge with his students. He spent his adult life seeking the truth about the existence of God, and his wife always prayed for him with unrelenting faith. Upon finding his ideal Bible teacher and developing the motivation to seek more truths, he pursued and earned his master's degree in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary.
