Veteran prosecutor with more than 24 years of criminal courtroom experience is running for Judge of Criminal County Court at Law 12
HOUSTON, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Have you seen one Houston news episode where crime is not mentioned? Just one? Murders. Shootings. Child abuse. The violence isn't stopping. Harris County residents have watched judges release violent offenders on free bonds, fail to show up for work, and fail to follow the law. Anna Emmons, a career prosecutor with more than 24 years of criminal courtroom experience, says it is time for a change and that voters can make it happen at the ballot box.
"Are you tired of crime? It must stop. And your vote can make the change," said Emmons, a candidate for Judge of Criminal County Court at Law 12. "Harris County deserves judges who have experience. Judges who will show up to work. Judges who will hold offenders accountable. Judges who will keep communities safe."
Emmons emphasized that local elections affect everyone in Harris County. Although most people will never set foot in a criminal courtroom, the decisions made there — bonds, conditions of release, and the protection of victims and the accused alike — impact every citizen and every community in the county.
"Local elections affect all of us. Stop ignoring them," Emmons said. "Know who you are voting for and make the change we all deserve."
A criminal court judge holds tremendous responsibility. A judge must be fair and impartial, must understand the law and have the experience necessary to apply it correctly, and must protect constitutional rights while recognizing the court's responsibility to victims and the safety of the community. Emmons believes politics, favoritism, bias, and personal agendas have no place in the courtroom.
"After spending more than 24 years as a prosecutor and defense attorney, I understand that the decisions made from the bench are rarely theoretical," Emmons said. "These decisions impact victims, families, law enforcement, attorneys, and entire communities. The citizens of Harris County have seen what happens when politics enters the courtroom and when the law is not followed or applied as it should be. These repeated failures of the criminal justice system have to change."
If elected, Emmons pledges to base every decision on the facts and the law, to show up to work, to be prepared, and to never forget the responsibility that comes with wearing the robe.
"Some decisions are difficult, and a good judge cannot avoid them because of popular opinion or politics," Emmons said. "I humbly ask for the votes of Harris County on November 3rd, and I remain committed to serving with the honesty, integrity, and commitment to justice that have guided me throughout my career."
