PITTSBURGH, Dec. 10, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ReadyAI today announced the launch of their new book 'Artificial Intelligence & Me' that explores the 5 Big Ideas in AI along with engaging activities for kids. The picture book illustrates conversations between an amicable robot Robby and a group of kids as they learn about "The Five Big Ideas in AI."
The picture book introduces young readers to The Five Big Ideas in AI; Perception, Representation and Reasoning, Learning, Human-AI Interaction, and Societal Impact. The Big Ideas have been established by the AI4K12 Initiative, a joint project of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) and the Computer Science Teachers Association as part of their national guidelines for K-12 AI education. AI4K12 has received NSF support as well. "Kids today should be learning about AI for the same reasons their parents learned about computers: it's interesting, it's fun, and early awareness can greatly expand their career options," says Dr. David S. Touretzky, Chair of the AI4K12 Initiative.
"Today, our children grow up in an increasingly digital age in which technology fills every part of their lives. From smart toys and social media networks to the classroom and home, artificial intelligence is everywhere in children's everyday lives," says Roozbeh Aliabadi, CEO at ReadyAI.
Mr. Aliabadi adds, "We owe it to our children not only to help them understand and utilize the powerful tools of AI but also to thoughtfully weigh its moral and social implications early on. We published the 'AI & Me' picture book to help children to learn about AI so they can grow from being a passive spectator of technology disruption to active participants of positive change in their local communities and the world."
"I love teaching with the 'AI & Me' series, and most importantly, the students really enjoy these books! They are a wonderful tool to introduce young learners to (the) big ideas in the field of AI in a fun and interesting way, " says Shelley Steele, an AI educator at the after school AI program at Pittsburgh Chinese School. Rachelle Dene Poth, a STEM teacher at Riverview School District in Oakmont commented on the series, "I like how they (the books) progress through the topic and terms related to artificial intelligence and help students to attach meaning to what they are learning by the different examples and step-by-step ways that students build their understanding through the book."
The new release is recommended for K-6 and is available immediately on Amazon, just in time for the holiday season. For more information on ReadyAI's other AI educational books, online courses, and resources for parents and teachers, visit their website.
