Compass Pointe residents received the privilege of enjoying play on the course beginning Tuesday, June 7th according to Real Estate Scorecard. The Compass Pointe Golf Club is the first full course to open in the state of North Carolina since 2008. It is an 18-hole championship course said to be the newest and most impressive golf destination in the area.

Bobby Harrelson has developed more than 100 communities in the Leland and Wilmington area. Last year, Harrelson’s company Brunswick Golf Holdings acquired Magnolia Greens Golf Course, which he and partners developed in the late nineties. It was the intent of Harrelson and managing partner, Rick Sears, to have the same experienced team overseeing activity at both Compass Pointe and Magnolia Greens.
Like all of his projects, Harrelson wanted the course to have a unique design, it was no wonder why golf course designer, Rick Robbins, was hand-picked for the job. As a North Carolina native, Robbins is internationally known for his work with repeated praise from developers for his vision and ability to maximize usage of the land. The golf course features an environmentally friendly design.
“Compass Pointe’s property provided a unique opportunity to design a course near the coast with having the area’s highest point of elevation at 85 feet above sea level. The sand/soil is also ideal for exceptional course drainage to benefit the agronomy and horticulture of the course”, Robbins says.
The Compass Pointe Golf Course design features wide and fast fairways; large undulating Champion Bermuda greens; and picturesque, native Carolina landscaping which creates an exceptional golf experience. Golfers of all skill levels can enjoy play from one of five sets of tees, which includes a Par 3 Tee Box that is great for beginners or junior players. The course will play at 7228 yards from the championship tees and a course rating of 74.6 to 4733 yards from the forward tees. It also offers a professional driving range and short game practice area, and the area’s most unique putting green and putting course.
