As a caregiver I desperately searched for a book by anyone who talked about their real experiences as a caregiver and how hard it is to be a caregiver while managing family, marriage, and still working
ATHENS, Tenn. (PRWEB) February 06, 2023
Author Kimberly S. Bohannon transparently shares her powerful, emotional and relatable caregiver story with others in The Beautiful Destruction of My Life: Finding Hope in My Journey as a Wife, Mother, and Caregiver to a Disabled Veteran with Multiple System Atrophy ($15.99, paperback, 9781662862847; $7.99, e-book, 9781662862854).
In 2010, Bohannon unexpectedly took on the role of caregiver to her late husband, Steve. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who developed Multiple System Atrophy from chemical exposure. After six years of progressive deterioration, his disorder left him unable to talk, walk or care for himself. Full time caregiving while working and taking care of two teenagers was a role Bohannon was not prepared for. From a once whirlwind romance to a failing marriage, the author shares her story and how she ultimately credits God’s hand for the rebirth of her marriage and all the events that followed. It’s a compelling, thoughtful and emotional book aimed to help other caregivers persevere through faith, knowing that God provides a way to survive and see the glory in how He uses difficult situations for His purpose along the way.
“As a caregiver I desperately searched for a book by anyone who talked about their real experiences as a caregiver and how hard it is to be a caregiver while managing family, marriage, and still working,” said Bohannon. “In writing the book, I wanted to make sure that any caregiver reading it felt like they had been "heard" by someone who had gone through it and that they could feel normal on those days that they didn’t.”
Kimberly S. Bohannon is a mom to two adult children in Tennessee. In addition to her role as caregiver for her husband, she also built a career as a Compliance Officer in the credit union industry. Bohannon serves on the board of directors for Inheritance of Hope, an organization dedicated to providing retreats to families with a parent with a terminal illness. She feels blessed to have great friends and loved ones to support her. Bohannon loves hiking, nature and spending time outdoors on her property. She also enjoys trying minor home improvement projects and watching crime documentaries in her spare time.
