Realtor Cheryl D'Anna Helps Golf Fore Africa Provide Clean Water in Zambia

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 7, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Russ Lyon Sotheby's International Realty Realtor Cheryl D'Anna was one of the panelists at the Golf Fore Africa, "Strong Women, Strong World" annual luncheon where Rich Stearns, CEO of World Vision, was the honorary speaker who delivered a compelling challenge to end the water crises around the globe by the year 2030.

"I was first introduced to the need about four years ago at one of these luncheons. Shortly thereafter, I was honored to visit the villages in Western Zambia that are benefiting from clean water and see firsthand the work that is being done by Golf Fore Africa and World Vision," said Cheryl. "The children were healthy and staying in school, mothers were thriving and had their dignity back. However, it was heartbreaking to see the need and how the lack of clean water causes so many illnesses and problems for families. I am inspired by the work being done to transform the lives of women and children and help end the water crisis, which is why I joined the board and funded a well."

World Vision and Golf Fore Africa are partnered to help end the water crises by 2030. The mission of Golf Fore Africa, founded by LPGA Hall of Fame golfer Betsy King, is to bring hope and change to children and families living in extreme poverty in Africa by bringing clean water to their villages, healthcare clinics and schools.

Golf Fore Africa has made huge strides in 2018. Between events and individual donors, they have already funded 67 wells and 10 mechanized systems last year. In 2018 they impacted and provided 36,000 people living in Zambia with clean water for the first time ever.

There are still over 600 million people globally who are without access to clean water. Every day nearly 1,000 children younger than 5 years old die from diarrhea caused by contaminated water and poor sanitation. The global water crisis disproportionately impacts women and girls who spend an estimated 200 million hours hauling water every day - usually from contaminated sources.

In 2018, Golf Fore Africa raised $2.6 million, and to date over 200 wells, 17 large mechanize systems and a medical clinic in Rwanda and housing project in Lesotho have been funded," concluded Cheryl.
