The concert, put on by the Portland Gay Men's Chorus (PGMC), will take place on Saturday, March 30, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 31, at 3 p.m. at Kaul Auditorium at Reed College. "This concert fits with a longstanding tradition of PGMC responding with music to current issues. I am proud of PGMC and their ability to speak so loudly through their music and to find common ground with a diverse community of courageous individuals," said Davis, who is a season sponsor.
"Our Audacity to Hope" will explore the accomplishments of those in the community who succeed against seemingly insurmountable odds. It was inspired by the optimistic spirits of the likes of Malala Yousafszai, Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson, the Wild Boar Soccer Club, and others who rose above the tide of societal discord.
"The concert will feature music that reminds us of our shared humanity, uplift our spirits, and affirm the worth of all people," noted Davis.
PGMC, which recently traveled to China and performed in four cities, inspires leadership within the gay community and is an active partner in the regional arts. The Chorus provides an open, supportive environment for a diverse and committed family of members and supporters.
