Record-Breaking Year for Greater Palm Springs Convention Sales in 2014
Rancho Mirage, CA (PRWEB) February 19, 2015 -- The Coachella Valley saw significant growth in meetings and incentive leads in 2014, making it a record-breaking year. The Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) booked 220,003 convention hotel room nights for future dates. This marked a 112% increase over the 196,879 hotel room nights booked in 2013. In addition, 774 meetings and incentive leads representing more than 604,252 nights were sourced in 2014.
The increase can be attributed to several new initiatives by the CVB last year, as well as increased airlift into Palm Springs International Airport.
“It was a phenomenal year for the Greater Palm Springs tourism industry,” said Rick Blackburn, Vice President of Convention Sales and Services. “Increased airlift resulting from earlier start dates on seasonal flights and a greater recognition of our destination’s midweek value year-round has been key to this growth.”
In an effort to more effectively service clients, the CVB has also realigned two geographic territories. Northern California, Washington, Oregon and Alaska will now be handled by Joanne Yanovick who is based in Greater Palm Springs. Vicki Keyser, based in Florida, will be the CVB’s contact for Convention Sales in the Southeast (TX, AR, LA, MS, KY, TN, AL, NC, SC, GA, FL).
“The realignment will provide meeting planners and clients with increased face-to-face time with the CVB,” said Blackburn. “Our goal is to make meeting planning in the Coachella Valley as personal, easy and cost-effective as possible, resulting in happier clients and more successful meetings and conventions in our unique and desirable travel destination.”
