RedMane Technology, a Chicago-based software solutions and systems integration services company, was awarded a contract to provide and implement its mCase platform for the Virginia Department of Social Services’ (VDSS) Comprehensive Permanency Assessment and Safety System (COMPASS) program.
RedMane’s work is in support of the Commonwealth’s Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) Enterprise Mobile Software Solution project. That project is the first component in the COMPASS program and follows Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s executive order directing the use of cloud technologies in the Commonwealth’s information technology services.
The company won this contract by offering a modern CCWIS mobile solution and the deep expertise necessary to successfully implement it throughout Virginia.
RedMane’s highly flexible, powerful, and mobile cloud-based platform will enable child welfare caseworkers to access data when they need it - whether they are in the office or the field. With mCase, caseworkers can put more focus on the needs and positive outcomes of their clients.
Caseworkers will be able to meet with a family, assess the situation utilizing existing assessment tools, develop an appropriate plan, and have it agreed upon, printed, and signed in a single visit.

Tony Lakier, RedMane’s president, said that his company will use its mCase platform as the foundation of the solution.
“We will implement mCase and be responsible for all the systems integration work associated with this critical project,” Lakier said. “Our professional services staff will work closely with VDSS to tailor the solution to Virginia’s needs, integrate it into the existing environment, and roll it out throughout the Commonwealth.”
Lakier added that the company’s mCase platform will help Virginia protect and serve its children and families.
