Relief Bed International Partners with The Home Depot Foundation and OneOC to Transform The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission in Indio, CA.

TACOMA, Wash., June 14, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- More than 350 volunteers from The Home Depot and its Building Materials vendor partners worked alongside The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM) and OneOC to renovate multiple facilities for locals facing homelessness. CVRM is an emergency food and shelter facility with 150 residential beds and up to 100 emergency overnight beds. The organization serves those who are abused, homeless, unemployed, nearly homeless, hungry, veterans, domestic violence survivors, elderly and broken.

CVRM is relying on volunteers from Team Depot, The Home Depot's associate-led volunteer force, to help perform impactful and long-lasting projects. Updates will include a courtyard refresh for the community, dormitory renovations including new beds, mural painting and exterior landscaping. Additional supporters for this project include: Relief Bed International, California Building Material Supply and South Junior High School in Anaheim, CA.

This project in Indio, CA is part of The Home Depot's ongoing efforts to improve the lives of U.S. military veterans and their families. Since 2011, The Home Depot Foundation has transformed more than 43,000 homes and facilities for veterans across the country. Giving back to veterans is personal to The Home Depot, as more than 35,000 of the company's associates have served in the military.

The timing of this project also marks the 1 year anniversary of Relief Bed International and Brentwood Homes Partnership. Brentwood Home, http://www.brentwoodhome.com donates funds for every Crystal Cove mattress they sell and their partnership funded the beds that were donated to this project.

Smalling mentioned this project was extra special to him as his father, Jay Smalling, was able to join for the days work. Scott and his Father Jay were on the mural team in the gymnasium and were asked to paint the Navy symbol which was especially exciting to Jay Smalling as he served honorably as Lieutenant on a destroyer in the Pacific.

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM) was established in 1971 as a soup kitchen for men only. Services expanded to include women and children in the 1980's. CVRM opened an emergency overnight shelter in 2004, and completed construction on its current facility in 2011 with an addition in 2015.CVRM has 250 beds for wrap-around services, as well as residential programs, a shelter for women with children, and an on-site medical clinic.
