Story takes readers on an escape and rescue mission in an alternate alien dimension
LEXINGTON, S.C., Oct. 31, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dr. Michael Townsend, a genomics researcher, just wants to study the mammalian genome but, incidentally, becomes a pawn in an alien game of strategy in a new science-fiction novel by author Whit Haney.
In "Dimensions: The Game Quarks Play," readers follow Dr. Townsend's exploits as he gets sick and then cures himself with a last-ditch treatment that turns him into the "Knight Bear." He soon learns of aliens from another dimension, formed from quarks- random subatomic particles, that murdered his wife and abducted 41 others.
"After 35 years as a full-time pharmacist, I believed a career change was in order," said Haney. "So, why not write a sci-fi novel? It sounded logical to me, though I have never been known as a conventional thinker."
After becoming the Knight Bear, Dr. Townsend learns that the same aliens also abducted his research partner. After using his scientific background, Dr. Townsend escapes and attempts to save and return everyone back to Earth.
"This is light-hearted sci-fi and is different than the current dystopian fare," concluded Haney. "I attempted to inject humor through character flaws, without using gratuitous foul language. I want this to be read as pure fiction and a fun story anyone can enjoy."
