Remedy Institute receives Health Canada approval to resume its clinical trial of MDMA-assisted treatment for PTSD.
TORONTO, Sept. 30, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Remedy Institute, a newly launched charity with a focus on innovation in mental health, is resuming its clinical trial of MDMA and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to treat PTSD following Health Canada's review of the study.

Few clinical research trials undergo the Health Canada inspection and review process. With Health Canada's approval to resume the study, Remedy Institute is able to return to providing excellent participant care.
MDMA has demonstrated tremendous therapeutic potential for the treatment of PTSD and is an area of increasing interest in clinical research around the world, with potential to dramatically improve treatment outcomes for the millions of people suffering from the disorder.
As a leader in the field of psychedelic-assisted treatment for PTSD, clinical psychologist and founder Dr. Anne Wagner created Remedy as a home for research and practice in 2018. The clinic began operations with a team of five, and has now grown to over 30 clinicians and staff, including psychologists, social workers, and researchers.
Remedy Institute was launched in March 2022 with a mandate to raise funds for and conduct cutting-edge research, while simultaneously reducing barriers to mental health services. The launch of Remedy Institute marks the next step in the Remedy ecosystem's drive to innovate mental health services and research.
Alongside the innovative research taking place at Remedy Institute, the charity offers a bursary program for those facing barriers in accessing mental health services. The Bursary Program provides funding for focused, short-term treatment courses, with an emphasis on BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, and artist communities.
