Renowned Creighton University Professor Named President-Elect of the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities
Omaha, NE (PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- Creighton University today announced Amy Marie Haddad, Ph.D., has been named president-elect of the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH). Haddad is currently a Creighton University professor, the director of the Center for Health Policy and Ethics and the Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Endowed Chair in Health Sciences at Creighton University.
Haddad will serve on the leadership team of the ASBH for six years: two as president-elect, two as president and the final two as past president.
The ASBH is a bioethics and health-related humanities organization of almost 2,000 members. The purpose of ASBH is to promote the exchange of ideas and foster multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and inter-professional scholarship, research, teaching, policy development, professional development and collegiality among people engaged in all the endeavors related to clinical and academic bioethics and the health-related humanities.
About Amy M. Haddad, Ph.D.
Haddad received her Master of Science in nursing from University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1979 after her undergraduate career at Creighton University. She then went on to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to receive her doctorate degree. Haddad currently teaches ethics and health policy in the Creighton University Health Sciences programs and led the effort to establish the university’s Master of Science in Health Care Ethics program in 2009.
Some of Haddad’s accomplishments include:
• Received the Robert K. Chalmers Distinguished Pharmacy Educator Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy
• Earned a 2003 Alpha Sigma Nu National Jesuit Book Award
• Earned a 2007 Pellegrino Medal presented by the health care Ethics and Law Institute at Samford University
