Reshma Moorthy, Frontier Technologies Brings Philadelphia Business Community Together for Children's Rights Advocacy
Reshma Moorthy and Allen Riddick collaborate to bring awareness of the Children's Rights Organization to Philadelphia business leaders.
WILMINGTON, Del., Sept. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Last month, Reshma Moorthy, President of Frontier Technologies came together with Allen Riddick, Director of Supplier Diversity at Drexel University, to raise awareness among the Philadelphia business community of children's rights for the Children's Rights Organization.
"I love the Nelson Mandela quote that the Children's Rights Organization uses frequently – 'There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way it treats its children,'" said Moorthy when asked what inspired her to take action. "I believe that our children are the future, and it is our duty to fight for them, especially while they don't have the resources to fight for themselves."
Philadelphia is more than 25% children, and more than 25% of Philadelphians are in poverty, according to the latest census report. Moorthy believes, as a community-involved business leader herself, that community leaders sit in a unique position to help and empower children through advocacy.
"The first step is raising awareness," said Moorthy. "Business leaders in Philadelphia have worked hard for immense influence, resources, and already want to use that to improve the community they love, especially when it comes to children. But until they understand the problem, they won't be able to help. That's what this event was about."
In collaboration with Moorthy and Frontier Technologies, the Children's Rights Organization hopes to raise more awareness and help millions more children than it already has, and this event was the first step toward reaching that goal in Philadelphia.
