Most employers plan to offer incentives for in-person work, while some threaten to fire workers who do not return to the office
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 19, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ResumeBuilder.com, the premier resource for free and professional resume templates, has published a survey report examining how U.S. companies will implement a return-to-office plan. The study also shares insight into top reasons driving business leaders to support in-person work. The survey generated feedback from 1,000 employers of companies that have been in business at least three years and that had a majority of workers in a traditional office space before the pandemic.
Currently, 66 percent of employers require employees to work from the office with some frequency. In 6 months, 73 percent of fully remote companies will return to in-person work, which means in 2023, 9 in 10 companies will require employees to work from the office with some frequency.
Seventy-seven percent of employers with a hybrid workplace plan to change their current policy within 6 months. Ten percent of respondents from this group will require employees to work full time from the office, 40 percent will require four days a week in office, and 31 percent will mandate three days a week.
The study also indicates that most employers will incentivize workers to return to the office. Forty-one percent of companies will offer catered meals, 35 percent will provide commuter benefits, and 34 percent will raise wages. Additional perks that some companies will offer include improved office space, company events, childcare, and pet stipends. In contrast, 21 percent of respondents say they will fire employees who do not comply with return-to-office policies.
"Although most employers are leaning towards an in-person workplace, hiring and retaining top talent will require flexibility," says Stacie Haller. "Many job candidates are primarily looking for remote or hybrid work, and our study shows that more than 70 percent of companies will still offer a flexible work model."
According to the report, 96 percent of business leaders say there are benefits to having employees in the office. Fifty-five percent of respondents cite improved communication as a reason to return to in-person work. Employers also say creativity, productivity, company culture, and employee oversight are main reasons they want employees back in office.
