RGIS Issued Patent for Inventory Verification System
Auburn Hills, Mich. (PRWEB) January 23, 2014 -- RGIS, LLC, the global market leader in inventory and data collection, was issued in December U.S. Patent No. 8,606,658 relating to systems and methods for verification of inventory data to ensure an accurate capture of information for every item at a location. The patent was issued on December 10, 2013 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office after more than five years of review.
The patent describes an inventory verification system and method using a remote device communicating with a control desk to validate or correct inventory counts. Multiple verification modes may be used such as piece count verification, UPC code verification, reasonability verification, and random verification. The patent also describes computing and displaying a verification status on the remote device itself. The patent includes 19 claims which are direct to a method of inventory verification and an inventory verification system.
“This is an important step in our continuing quest to bring real-world technology to our clients that enables the most accurate inventory counts possible,” said John J. Ling, CEO of RGIS. The company was founded in 1958 and has a 55-year history of adopting new data collection, computing and data analysis technologies that currently provide the capability to service more than 18,000 clients and more than 550,000 inventory events worldwide each year.
The technology allows onsite RGIS inventory supervisors or clients to verify inventory data in real time. Prior to the use of this verification technology, printouts of inventory counts would be manually checked against the physical stock, a very labor-intensive and highly iterative process. This technology allows for increased accuracy and “opens up” inventory data to multiple methods of rapid verification. It has been successfully utilized in inventory events for hundreds of RGIS clients in North America and globally.
