Rich Dad Education Employees Once Again Help the Harry Chapin Food Bank
Cape Coral, FL (PRWEB) November 26, 2013 -- For the second consecutive year, employees of Rich Dad Education volunteered their time to provide assistance to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida during the Thanksgiving season.
Employees from the company’s Cape Coral office worked at the Harry Chapin Food Bank warehouse on 3760 Fowler Street in Fort Myers on Tuesday, November 19th and Wednesday, November 20th. The volunteers worked a three-hour shift in the busy warehouse, helping to sort and bag various food items for distribution to those in need throughout Southwest Florida. To encourage participation, the company compensated employees with their regular wages while they were volunteering at the food bank so they wouldn’t need to use any of their personal time off.
In all, 21 members of Rich Dad Education’s staff took part in the project, volunteering 63 total hours at the food bank warehouse.
“We know that the ongoing recovery from the recession of 2008 has been uneven,” said James May, Rich Dad Education’s Chief Administration Officer, “leaving many children, working poor, elderly, and other disadvantaged families here in Southwest Florida still struggling to make ends meet. We’re glad so many of our employees and their supervisors volunteered their time to help their less fortunate neighbors.”
“Our employees loved working at the food bank last year and were also involved in donating more than one thousand items of food to their warehouse this past summer,” remarked Anthony Humpage, Rich Dad Education CEO. “We are grateful to have another opportunity this year to give back to our community.” He stressed that Rich Dad Education seeks new ways it can be of service to others.
The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida was founded in 1983 to overcome hunger in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendy and Lee counties. On an annual basis, the Harry Chapin Food Bank provides more than 13.7 million pounds of nutritious food to the Southwest Florida community. Its name is derived from the popular singer-songwriter Harry Chapin who was also a tireless advocate for ending world hunger right up until his untimely death due to a car accident in 1981.
