Rimstorm CEO Ben Gerenstein this month qualified as a Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Provisional Assessor to become one of the first assessors in the country.
This important accreditation will allow Rimstorm to soon provide CMMC assessments for government contractors. With this qualification, Gerenstein will participate in the first ever assessments under the CMMC-Accreditation Body (CMMC-AB).
Gerenstein is one of 72 assessors selected out of a pool of more than 500 candidates. He is authorized to conduct CMMC assessments during a provisional period that lasts from now until January 2021.
The Department of Defense created the CMMC compliance standard to improve the security of the supply chain of the Defense Industrial Base. It is expected to take effect later this year.
The CMMC-AB has worked with the hundreds of members of the Defense Industrial Base to deploy a CMMC assessment ecosystem. Rimstorm has been an active member of that group with Gerenstein serving on the CMMC-AB Exam Objectives Working Group.
Rimstorm has also submitted an application to become a third-party assessor organization (C3PAO) for CMMC. While meeting the mandate itself, Rimstorm currently works with fellow members of the government contracting community to ensure they meet CMMC compliance.
