“RISE: Love. Revolution. The Black Panther Party” Ground Breaking Group Art Exhibit Attracts Top Artists for Launch of Five City Tour in Los Angeles, February 21, 2014
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 15, 2014 -- The Love Revolution lives on. Los Angeles is the first stop in the five city art exhibition, “RISE: Love. Revolution. The Black Panther Party”. The exhibit featuring over thirty artists, mostly Southern California area opens February 21, 2014 and runs through March 21, 2014 at Art Share L.A., 801 E. 4th Place, Los Angeles, CA 90013. "Art and Revolution have always fueled each other. The intent of this exhibition is to celebrate The Black Panther Party as an iconic symbol of the struggle for justice the world over", Rosalind McGary, co-curator, RISE Arts Collective explains.
Each stop in the five city tour will feature mainly local artists from that region. The five cities are: Los Angeles, Oakland, New York, Chicago, and London. “We are specifically engaging artists that represent a wide range of socio-economic and ethnic groups,” Lester Grant, co-curator, RISE Arts Collective states. Proceeds from each exhibit will benefit The New York Black Panther Commemoration Committee. Artists exhibiting in Los Angeles include: Aise Born, Akinsanya Kambon, Arnoldo Vargas, Carolyn Castaño, Charles Bibbs, Charles Gaines, Charly Palmer, Dewey Tafoya, Douglas Miles, Emory Douglas, Gene Pearson, J Michael Walker, Jose Ortiz, Kenneth Gatewood, Lili Bernard, Mark Steven Greenfield, Michael Massenburg, Mohamed Mubarak, Nate Young, Nery Gabriel Lemus, Nychole Owens, Pablo Cristi, Pamela Mower-Connor, Paul Goodnight, Raoul De La Sota, Richard Duardo, Rosalind McGary, Sam Durant, Samella Lewis, Shuji Nishimura, Sonya Fe, Stuart Rapeport, Tamara Natalie Madden, Tito Delgado, Thomas “Breeze” Marcus, Turner Lange, and Tony Ramos.
