Among the featured points, aggravated assault increased 12.1% while the rate of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter offenses increased by 29.4%, one of the largest single-year leaps in history. Property crime, however, decreased by 8.1%. Violent crime is still relatively rare in the United States — with only about 388 violent offenses committed per 100,000 people — and as the FBI report notes, property crime actually decreased last year, continuing a long-term trend.

Spear Security says negotiating efforts very rarely fail, as it's usually clearly in the would-be perpetrator's best interests to comply, but it does happen.
