New B2B2C infrastructure is designed to intercept solo checkout abandonment across hotels, cruise lines, tour operators and booking platforms, match compatible travelers and return shared demand to the booking funnel
ERIE, Pa., Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Roamate, a travel technology company building infrastructure for the solo travel market, today introduced the patent-pending Solo Conversion Layer™, a new B2B2C platform designed to help hotels, cruise lines and travel booking platforms convert solo travelers who may otherwise abandon a booking because of double occupancy pricing or single supplements.
The Solo Conversion Layer gives travel companies another option at the point where solo economics become a barrier to purchase. Instead of discounting the inventory or repeatedly retargeting a traveler with the same product at the same price, partners can offer a Split Cost path that allows compatible solo travelers to share the cost of inventory already priced for two.
Roamate is now opening applications for its pilot program, with initial implementations targeted for the first quarter of 2027.
"Travel companies spend heavily to get a customer to the point of booking, but when a solo traveler reaches inventory priced around two-person occupancy, there often is not another option to offer them," said Charli Sharp, founder and CEO of Roamate. "We are building that option. The goal is to help travel companies recover demand that already exists without asking them to change how they price, manage inventory or complete the reservation."
A $360 Billion Conversion Opportunity
Roamate estimates that solo travelers absorb more than $60 billion annually in additional costs across shareable travel categories including hotels and cruises, representing approximately $120 billion in completed booking value. Using a 75 percent travel booking abandonment assumption, the company estimates that another $360 billion in potential solo booking value may be left unconverted.
Price is one of several reasons travelers abandon purchases. Fullstory's 2026 Travel & Hospitality Survey found that 31 percent of consumers who failed to complete a travel purchase cited last-stage price changes. Applied to Roamate's estimate, that suggests approximately $112 billion in potential booking value could be associated with price friction alone.

Another Path Before Demand Disappears
The Solo Conversion Layer is designed for demand already at risk, not to add friction to a booking that is working. Travelers prepared to pay the existing price continue through checkout normally. Partners control when and where Split Cost appears based on inventory, dates, room or cabin categories and other commercial criteria.
When a traveler chooses Split Cost, Roamate carries the selected trip into its compatibility and trust environment, where travelers can evaluate potential matches. If two travelers choose to move forward together, they return to the provider to complete the booking.
The provider retains control of inventory, pricing, payment, reservation policies and the customer relationship. Roamate provides the matching, trust and coordination layer.
Protecting ADR, increasing Occupancy, and growing RevPAR.
For revenue managers, the Solo Conversion Layer creates another lever beyond holding rate or discounting inventory.
By connecting two sources of solo demand around inventory already priced for two, a supplier can preserve the economics of the room or cabin while making the cost more accessible to each traveler. When demand that would otherwise disappear converts at the existing rate, occupancy can rise without sacrificing ADR, supporting stronger RevPAR.
More converted travelers can also increase total property revenue through food and beverage, spa, excursions, experiences, upgrades and other ancillary spending.
The longer-term opportunity is bigger than shared occupancy. If travel companies can generate more revenue from solo demand while protecting rate and increasing occupancy, revenue managers gain more flexibility in how they price travelers who still want a room or cabin of their own. Better economics for the property can ultimately create better economics for the solo traveler.
Built for the Next Generation of Travel Commerce
The Solo Conversion Layer is built on a patent-pending, API-first architecture, allowing partners to integrate the capability without replacing their existing reservation systems. Initial implementations will use a traveler-facing Split Cost experience, while the same underlying architecture is designed to support additional booking channels as travel commerce evolves.
That includes a future in which AI agents play a larger role in travel search and purchasing. As authorized agents increasingly interact directly with booking systems and APIs, Roamate expects the Solo Conversion Layer to evolve with those workflows, allowing the same solo conversion logic to be accessed whether the booking request originates from a traveler or an automated agent.
Roamate is seeking hotels and resorts, hotel groups, cruise lines, booking platforms and tour operators for its initial pilot program. Pilot scope and technical requirements will be developed with participating companies based on their existing systems, inventory and commercial objectives.
