Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival Set for Saturday, Nov. 30 in Downtown Shreveport and Bossier City
North Louisiana's largest holiday fireworks event will add the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck, an outdoor screening of the hit comedy Elf, a circulator bus, and more for 2019.
SHREVEPORT, La., Nov. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The 2019 Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival will take place, 4-7 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 30 at downtown Shreveport's Riverview Park and Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets in Bossier City. Both viewing areas will feature the largest Christmas trees in the region, live music, free photos with Santa, a kids' zone operated by Bayou Bounce, and an incredible fireworks show. Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival is scheduled to take place "rain or shine." The festival is presented by the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, the City of Shreveport, the City of Bossier City, Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets, and Pyromania Fireworks, LLC. Media sponsors are KSLA 12, KMJJ 99.7, and 101.1 KRMD.
At Riverview Park, families are invited to kick-off the event early with an outdoor screening of the hit comedy Elf presented by SPAR at 2 p.m. Emcee Marcia L. Nelson will introduce musical performances by The Syndicate at 4 p.m., Lance Thompson at 5 p.m., and Tipsey the Band at 6 p.m., with a Christmas tree lighting planned before the fireworks begin at 7 p.m. Food and drink will be available for purchase from local food trucks. Photos with Santa, as well as photos with the famous Coca-Cola Christmas Truck, will be available beginning at 4 p.m. Guests attending the festivities at Riverview Park should prepare for the closure of Clyde Fant Parkway beginning at approximately 1:30 p.m.
At Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets, entertainment will include a performance by the Bossier Parish Talented Arts Jazz Band at 4 p.m. and performances by Magnolia Mae at 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Bossier City Mayor Lo Walker will light the Christmas tree at Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets at approximately 5:50 p.m. The Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets' "Boardwalk Blizzards" will take place at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
New for 2019, festival attendees will have the option to ride the "Jingle Bell Bus," a SporTran bus that will circulate continuously between festival locations in Shreveport and Bossier City. The bus will run throughout the afternoon and evening, making stops at Commerce Street at Festival Plaza, Commerce Street at Texas Street (Red River District), Commerce Street at Caddo Street, and Milam Street at Clyde Fant Parkway on the Shreveport side, as well as the Louisiana Boardwalk (near the movie theaters) and East Bank District (Ogilvie Street) on the Bossier side. Rides will be $1.25 per adult one-way ticket/ $.60 for children, and free for children under 37 inches. The Jingle Bell Bus is made possible by the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, the Downtown Development Authority, the City of Shreveport, Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets, the East Bank District, and SporTran.
