Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival Set for Saturday, Nov. 24 in Shreveport-Bossier
SHREVEPORT, La. (PRWEB) November 14, 2018 -- Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival will return to the downtown Shreveport-Bossier riverfront, 4-7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24. The free, family-friendly festival will take place simultaneously at Riverview Park, located at 601 Clyde Fant Parkway in Shreveport, and Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets, located at 540 Boardwalk Boulevard in Bossier City. Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival is presented by the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, the City of Shreveport, the City of Bossier City, Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets and Pyromania Fireworks, LLC and is sponsored by KSLA, KRMD, Magic 102.9, Q97.3, KMJJ, and The Ticket Sports Radio. At Riverview Park, there will be musical performances by Twirlers in Motion (4:45 p.m.), Shreveport Metropolitan Concert Band (5:10 p.m.), Willie Jones (5:45 p.m.), Sweet Nay and the Christmas Belles (6 p.m.), and Lance Thomas (6:35 p.m.). Food will be served by food trucks including Miguelito Burrito, Garcon du Bayou, Johnny’s Pizza, Wonderstick, and Fair Food by Tracy Duck. Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available beginning at 4 p.m. The Warrior Network will be on-hand selling hot and cold beverages and operating a kids’ zone including by-donation bounce houses. Guests attending the festivities at Riverview Park should prepare for the closure of Clyde Fant Parkway beginning at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Live entertainment at Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets will include Red River Pipes and Drums (4:05 p.m.), Westwood Elementary Junior Leadership Team (4:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.), Bossier Parish Talented Arts Program (4:45 p.m.), and the BPCC Music Jazz Band (5:40 p.m.). The entertainment stage at Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets will be located in the picnic area near Copeland’s Cheesecake Bistro. Photos with Santa will also be available at Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets. There will be free gifts for the first 500 children to arrive on either side of the river. Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets welcomes lawn chairs and blankets for this event, but ice chests and coolers will not be permitted. Guests are reminded to bring their own camera for photos with Santa.
Festival attendees are invited to take part in a double-elimination cornhole bag toss tournament called Candy Canes & Cornhole, which will begin at 3 p.m. behind Shreveport Aquarium. Advance registration is available at http://www.Eventbrite.com; registration fee is $20 per team. There will be prizes for first, second, third, and best dressed holiday-themed outfit. Candy Canes & Cornhole is sponsored by the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission.
