MEDINA, Minn., Oct. 24, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Rockler Woodworking and Hardware has introduced five new turning kits that let woodturners add a creative twist to cocktail hour by crafting custom bar tools.
Users turn handles in the shape and material of their choice to complement the contemporary style of the stainless steel Rockler Bar Tool Turning Kits. All tools have a threaded post and a matching insert that the user mounts in the handle, allowing for easy removal of the metal components for washing.
As part of the product rollout, Rockler also is offering a free step-by-step plan showing how to make a wooden storage rack and matching handles for the bar tools (https://go.rockler.com/plans/bar-tool-rack-plan-lr.pdf).
"Turning projects are popular because they're fun and don't take too long to finish," said Steve Krohmer, Rockler's vice president for product development. "These new kits enable turners to create unique, high quality bar tools that they'll be proud to give as a gift or use at their own home bar."
The line of Rockler Bar Tool Turning Kits includes:
- A Double Jigger (https://www.rockler.com/rockler-double-jigger-turning-kit) with marked graduations to measure out cocktail ingredients in 1/2-ounce or 1-ounce portions on one side and 3/4-ounce or 1-1/2-ounce portions on the other.
- A Muddler (https://www.rockler.com/rockler-muddler-turning-kit) with a textured polymer bottom that mashes fresh fruits, herbs and spices to release their flavors in mixed drinks without absorbing the flavors itself (so there's no unwanted carryover to other drinks).
- A Bar Spoon (https://www.rockler.com/rockler-bar-spoon-turning-kit) with an elongated stem and a 2.5ml bowl that is designed for measuring and mixing cocktail ingredients.
- A Hawthorne-style Cocktail Strainer (https://www.rockler.com/rockler-cocktail-strainer-turning-kit) with a flexible metal coil that fits inside the shaker or glass used for mixing and removes ice and other solids from the drink as it is poured into the serving glass.
- A Bottle Opener (https://www.rockler.com/rockler-bottle-opener-turning-kit) that matches the other bar tools.
To make turning easier, all Bar Tool Turning Kits are compatible with Rockler's 3/4" Shoulder Turning Mandrel (https://www.rockler.com/mandrel-3-4-in-shoulder-1-4-in-20-threads). The mandrel threads into the insert in the handle blank to hold it for turning, and the shoulder matches the final diameter needed where the handle meets the tool.
The new kits expand Rockler's selection of turning kits, and they are among many project ideas featured in Rockler's 2019 Handmade Gift Guide (https://www.rockler.com/gift-making-guide).
The Muddler Turning Kit (55073) and Bottle Opener Kit (56786) are priced at $14.99 each, while the Double Jigger (50371), Cocktail Strainer (50866) and Bar Spoon (50710) kits are priced at $17.99 each. A complete set including all five Rockler Bar Tool Turning Kits (65986, https://www.rockler.com/complete-set-of-rockler-bar-tool-turning-kits) is available for $68.95, a savings of $15 compared with the total individual prices. The 3/4" Shoulder Mandrel with 1/4"-20 Threading (51530) is priced at $14.99.
