Boston company WorkReduce provides technology for interactive data visualization project

WorkReduce, a data-driven platform for media buying talent, today announced a pro-bono partnership with the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, the non-profit responsible for the management and care of The Greenway, on a new initiative that will increase visitors’ engagement with Boston’s beloved public park through interactive geo visualizations.

The Greenway Interactive Bloom Tracker lets visitors locate and learn more about flowering perennials across the park. Visitors can see which Greenway flowers are typically in bloom during any time of the year, in addition to names of and details about each species. This interactive map graphs more than 300,000 data points and over 800 varieties of plants. The data was gathered over the 2019 season represent most of the park, but does not include Armenian Heritage Park, the Greenway Meadow, bulbs, or other annuals.

“The Greenway Conservancy is a leader in organic park care, and we’re proud that our Greenway lawns and gardens are not only part of a sustainable and healthy ecosystem, but healthier for our park visitors as well,” said Jesse Brackenbury, Greenway Conservancy Executive Director. “The Interactive Bloom Tracker is a unique way for our visitors to feel even more connected with the The Greenway throughout different seasons. We’re thrilled to be able to partner with our Boston neighbor WorkReduce on this innovative project.”

Landscape architect, Greenway Conservancy volunteer and consultant to the project Daniel Norman added, “It’s so exciting to see hundreds of hours of volunteer data collection so elegantly represented in this application. It’s gratifying to see the years of work come to fruition in such an engaging way.”

Built on the site of a former elevated highway, The Greenway is an urban oasis in the heart of the city, offering a rich diversity of organically maintained trees, shrubs, plants, and beautiful blooms.

WorkReduce CEO Brian Dolan added, ”The Greenway symbolizes an era of growth and renewal in Boston. We're so excited that WorkReduce's data and analytics capabilities will help enrich the Greenway visitor experience.”
