The 2022 edition of the Route 66 Film Festival streams globally, thanks to Film Festival, November 4-14, 2022
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 26, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- For the third year running, Film Festival Flix brings the Route 66 Film Festival to the world via their Virtual Venue solution. On November 4-14, viewers around the globe will be able to stream the 41 films in the lineup (5 features and 36 short films), savoring the pleasures of the internationally produced, independent films offered up by this year's all-virtual event.
The Festival's Opening Night Film is the new feature-length documentary Tipping Point, directed by Jon Meyer. It follows the much reported upon Portland, Oregon-based street protests of 2020 that began during the national reckoning on race in the wake of the high-profile murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
Following festival stops at the Wyoming International Film Festival and the Mill Valley Film Festival, filmmaker Emma Thatcher's stellar debut feature Provo lands at Route 66 as this year's Closing Night Film. Travelling to see her estranged, bed-ridden father before his imminent passing, a recovering addict struggles with a legacy of paternal abuse and her Mormon upbringing, all in the name of moving past the trauma.
2022 Route 66 Film Festival highlights
Magoado
Tormented and alone, Peio lives in hiding in Brazil. The unexpected appearance of his adolescent son of whom he was not aware causes him to rethink his life, presenting quite a challenge for him, since he neither knows him nor wants to take on the role of a father.
The Marshmallow Mystery Tour
After landing a gig at a marshmallow theme park, a cameraman uncovers the shocking truth about America's candyland and his own sugarcoated childhood.
Ordinary Creatures
Martha and Alex are on the road. They drive an antique red car through a somewhat less than magnificent landscape stretching between Lower Austria and the Czech Republic without any clear destination. A borderline surreal movement ostensibly just for its own sake. Rarely has such deadpan sensibilities had a stronger allure.
