SAE International/GM AutoDrive Challenge Earns AutoSens Education and Development Award
WARRENDALE, Pa. (PRWEB) September 29, 2017 -- AutoDrive Challenge™, a three-year autonomous design competition organized by SAE International and General Motors (GM), has won the AutoSens– Best Outreach Project award. AutoSens made the announcement on Tuesday, Sept. 20 during its AutoWorld conference in Brussels, Belgium.
The Best Project Outreach award recognizes the work and influence of education and development projects led by organizations and individuals to non-commercial communities around the world. For an industry worth more than $1 trillion, there are still dozens of individuals and organizations supporting technology outreach, education and development of young minds and new ideas within non-commercial communities around the world in AI, robotics, engineering, software development, electronics, hardware, software and more. The AutoSens awards programs seeks to recognize these efforts.
AutoDrive Challenge is a three-year challenge to develop and demonstrate a fully autonomous passenger vehicle. Throughout the competition, students will focus on autonomous technologies and allow for modification and testing. The will work with real-world applications of sensing technologies, computing platforms, software design implementation and advanced computation methods such as computer vision, pattern recognition, machine learning, artificial intelligence, sensor fusion and autonomous vehicle controls.

SAE International and GM announced the eight universities that will compete in the AutoDrive Challenge during WCX 17: SAE World Congress Experience held earlier this year in Detroit. The universities include:
