U.S. Federal Government Agencies Can Now Increase Security of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Deployments by Integrating a Trusted Hardware Security Module to Protect Cryptographic Keys

“By integrating a Luna HSM for Government into Entrust Datacard’s Entrust Authority Security Manager, government agencies can ensure that the cryptographic keys at the heart of the Certificate Authority remain secured” says Kirk Spring, President, SafeNet AT.

SafeNet Assured Technologies, LLC, a trusted, U.S. based source for cyber security solutions, today announced that its Luna Hardware Security Modules for Government received Ready Approval to integrate with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology from Entrust Datacard — a leading provider of trusted identity and secure issuance technology solutions. This integration will enhance security of Entrust Datacard PKI deployments.

SafeNet Assured Technologies’ (SafeNet AT) Luna Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) for Government now integrate with Entrust Datacard’s Entrust Authority Security Manager. Entrust Authority Security Manager provides easy management of the digital keys and certificates that secure user and device identities in an X.509 PKI. Deployed at the server-level, it enables trusted identity, digital signatures, and encryption across a wide variety of enterprise applications. Critical to the security of the entire PKI is the protection of the private keys in the embedded Certificate Authority hierarchy. With SafeNet AT’s Luna HSMs for Government, private keys are protected with a dedicated appliance validated to FIPS 140-2 Level 2 and 3.

SafeNet AT Luna HSMs for Government provide reliable protection for transactions, identities, and applications by securing cryptographic keys and provisioning encryption, decryption, authentication, and digital signing services. SafeNet AT HSMs provide the highest-performing, most secure, and easiest-to-integrate application and transaction security solution for government agencies. Developed for U.S. Government use, Luna HSMs for Government are manufactured, sold, and supported in the U.S. exclusively by SafeNet AT.

“By integrating a Luna HSM for Government into Entrust Datacard’s Entrust Authority Security Manager, government agencies can ensure that the cryptographic keys at the heart of the Certificate Authority remain secured,” says Kirk Spring, President, SafeNet Assured Technologies. “Our HSMs have a U.S. supply chain lifecycle and are designed to meet the stringent needs of the U.S. Federal Government.” says Spring.

“Together, SafeNet AT’s Luna HSM for Government and Entrust Datacard’s Authority Security Manager provide our customers with secure, reliable FIPS validated key protection within government solutions,” says Matt Hur, director of product management for PKI. “Entrust Datacard plays a critical role in enabling government agencies to issue, proof, manage and revoke digital identities, and our partnership with SafeNet AT provides a secure, well-rounded solution to our clients.”
