safetyBUILT-IN Leads Safety-Culture Field-Coaching Effort
Denver, CO (PRWEB) September 16, 2014 -- Representatives with safetyBUILT-IN (http://safetybuiltin.com/) announced today that it has completed the first phase of a safety-culture-development initiative for a major auto-parts manufacturing company headquartered in New York, and just recently launched Phase II of that program.
“The Kansas-based manufacturing facility is now the third such facility where safetyBUILT-IN has implemented its "From Compliance to Culture" program,” said safetyBUILT-IN Principal Eric Svendsen, Ph.D. “The first two locations, located in the Dallas Texas area, were completed last year.”
safetyBUILT-IN is a safety-leadership learning and development company that believes sustainable safety performance is best achieved through a safety culture based on core values, and that safety culture must be driven by leadership.
Svendsen explained that Phase I of the program, which was rolled out in the spring of 2014, consisted of taking all plant leaders through the two-day "From Compliance to Culture" safety-leadership program.
The initial stages of Phase II, which has already commenced, according to Svendsen, consisted of a specialized two-day session to train internal safety coaches, followed by a series of half-day employee-leadership sessions designed to prepare frontline employees to lead a safety culture at their level.
Svendsen went on to point out that the final stage of Phase II, which is currently underway, consists of a concentrated field-coaching effort to develop the human-capital competencies needed for a sustainable safety culture, and to better integrate the office side with the plant side so as to establish an improved safety "line-of-site" between the two functions.
"We have established a very good foundation with the training we have done so far, and that has paid off in spades for our coaching effort,” Svendsen said, before adding, “Employees are on board and speaking the same safety-culture language, and we're seeing phenomenal results in frontline employees and supervisors. We are on target to complete Phase II by the end of this year and plan to transfer ownership for the program to the resident safety-leadership team at that time."
