PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As the US celebrates the booming economy, anticipation of a downward shift has been the focus of fears in the new year. SalesFirst Recruiting would like to note that it is seeing trends continue to rise while its West Coast markets continue to provide an abundance of opportunities.
Adam Morris, SalesFirst's CEO noted, "I pay close attention to the markets, and I'm hearing more forecasts of an economic slowdown, but I'm just not seeing it in the markets we serve. Portland, Phoenix, and Denver all continue to attract high-quality business expansion, and our phone has not stopped ringing from employers looking for sales talent."
Portland's strong economy has led to overall growth in the job market. Last year, employment grew 1.9 percent. According to the Statesman Journal, the wealth of opportunity created a migration to the state. While the influx of people helps to keep up with demand, unemployment is low, and many companies still have trouble finding workers to fill positions.
"I'm still seeing a lot of optimism in the Portland market. The economy continues to support substantial growth for small and medium-sized businesses, and for job-seekers, that means a greater sense of choice in career moves than there's been since the pre-recession days," said Jeff Barker, the company's Vice-President. "What's really encouraging is that companies on the cutting-edge are looking beyond the easy "plug-and-play" hires, and are continuing to innovate and compete at the highest level."
Colorado Public Radio recently reported positive news about forecasts from the University of Colorado economists. They expect 53,000 new jobs to flood the area in 2019, with Professional and Business Services seeing the bulk of the growth.
Dan Morris, SalesFirst's President out of the Denver office, shared, "Denver is growing fast, but still in short supply of skilled employees. Companies have had to get creative to attract talent from other organizations, and we're seeing more flexible schedules, more in-office perks, and higher salaries. Despite these efforts, it's common for openings to remain unfilled for several months."
In late 2018, Phoenix Business Journal reported that TH Real Estate, a London-based real estate investment company, has declared Phoenix the "next millennial magnet." This is due to the area's centralized location with other markets, and the introduction of tech giants and startups to the region.
Patrick Ortman, President of SalesFirst Phoenix, agreed, "This is the best economy and jobs environment that I can remember dating back to the dot-com heyday of the early 90s, and the Phoenix market is no exception. Our low unemployment rate and increasing number of unfilled desirable positions are rewarding active job seekers in Phoenix with major growth opportunities at a historically low risk."
