Sam Boak of Boak & Sons never predicted he would have such success when he started his business as a senior in high school in 1974. Since its start, Boak & Sons has expanded into several new service opportunities and become a prominent business within the local community.

The past 45 years have been full of ups and downs for Sam Boak as he navigated his company to where it is today. Sam Boak founded Boak & Sons as an insulation company in 1974 while he was only a senior in high school. Since its start, it has branched out into the roofing, siding, gutters, and sheet metal industry.
"What a journey," Sam Boak says about Boak & Sons. "I started this business out of my parents' house with my mom answering the phone and dad teaching me about the finances. Now we have around 190 employees, a warehouse the size of a football field and our work can be found in 3 different states."
With humble beginnings, the company has seen a lot over the years. Interest rates reached an all-time high in the 1980s and Boak & Sons struggled to maintain service as other local contractors closed their doors. The future of Boak & Sons was not certain. Sam Boak made personal sacrifices to keep the business afloat, pushing for long-term success of the company and his employees.
It was not until the housing boom in the 1990s that Sam Boaks' dedication paid off and Boak & Sons started to excel. Boak & Sons became a well-known exterior contractor in the Mahoning Valley, delivering a high-quality product and unmatched service.
Sam Boak dedicated his life to Boak & Sons which has made it the thriving exterior contracting company that it is today.
