YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio, Feb. 8, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The COVID-19 pandemic has continued to plague the nation for nearly two years. As businesses and individuals adapted to the new normal the pandemic introduced, many faced financial hardships. Businesses were forced to close their doors, many were forced to stay home, and thousands became suddenly unemployed. Among various assistance programs, the Ohio Public Utilities Commission has provided a list of programs that are available to qualifying residential customers to help them pay their electric, natural gas, telephone, or water bills. Sam Boak, president and founder of Boak & Sons, Inc., is encouraging eligible customers to utilize these programs if they are having trouble with utility costs.
The cost of utilities has grown steadily over the past two years, especially in heating costs. As a company that specializes in insulation installation, Boak & Sons, Inc. has been encouraging customers to consider mitigating these cost increases by having insulation installed in their homes. In fact, according to Sam Boak, insulation is a home improvement project that ends up paying for itself due to the money saved on heating and cooling costs.
Sam Boak also realizes that not everyone is in a financial standing to have insulation installed in their homes. For these customers, Boak recommends researching home energy assistance programs provided by energy companies and organizations. For example, Pennsylvania residents can apply for the First Energy WARM Program which provides an in-home energy usage evaluation, a one-on-one with a trained energy educator to create an energy savings plan and even provide home improvements such as attic and/or wall insulation, refrigerator/freezer testing and possible replacement, and much more. While this program is not offered to Ohio residents, First Energy still offers resources to help Ohioans find assistance with their utility bills through companies like Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company, and Toledo Edison.
The Ohio Public Utilities Commission also has a list of utility assistance programs, such as the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) which helps eligible Ohioans meet the high costs of home heating, and many more. For a full list of the Ohio Public Utilities Commission's assistance programs, visit their website. The Trumbull County Assistance Program also implements the HEAP program, which can be found at https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html/trumbull_county_assistance_pro.html.
