San Francisco Social Entrepreneur Caner Okan Advances To Second Round of The Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition With Fringe Diplomacy Youth Poetry Project

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Caner Okan, Co-Founder of Morning Angel Communications has advanced to the finalist round of the Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition for his social impact idea, a youth poetry international virtual exchange program called, The Cadence Project. The Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition is an activity within the framework of the UNESCO Global Action Programme (GAP) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

The Cadence Project is a poetry program designed as a virtual exchange to allow students in Turkey, and the United States to explore effective communication techniques through spoken poetry, and learn about cultural norms in other parts of the world.

The competition is a global program to mobilize youth-led innovations for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Of the 17 SDGs, the fourth focuses on education. SDG4 is a driver for key development in health and well-being, meaningful livelihoods, economic security and the full development of human potential.

Okan sees school as a place to develop youth capabilities and further the idea of democracy and diplomacy by creating a learning environment where creative, critical thinking and abilities such as innovation and risk-taking are encouraged along with studying different value systems, beliefs and attitudes. His entry elevates the art of spoken poetry, one of humanity's most treasured forms of cultural, linguistic expression and identity.

It offers a peaceful catalyst for meaningful dialogue in times of diplomatic tension and uncertainty," said Okan, a resident of San Francisco who originally came to the United States from Turkey to advance his education in engineering. "Memorizing and reciting poems written in your own native language or a new language is a way to practice speaking skills by connecting meaningful words with the right emotional tone of voice. It's an essential skill and a lot more challenging than it sounds!"

August 31st, 2019 is the Competition deadline for votes and comments. Ten finalists will be announced in September. Winners of the Competition will be announced at the Entrepreneurship Summit in Berlin in October 2019 and will receive international recognition.
