Saville Productions Documentary "5B" Garners Trio of AICP Awards - Company Wins for Johnson & Johnson Brand-Sponsored Doc Chronicling First US AIDS Ward

The film documented the efforts of a group of nurses who risked everything to open the first dedicated AIDS ward at San Francisco General Hospital in the 1980s. As part of AICP's Next Awards, "5B" will now be archived in The Museum of Modern Art's Department of Film for future generations to study.
The film was honored, along with UM Studios and sponsor Johnson & Johnson, three times in the following categories; for AICP Show/Cause, AICP Next Awards/Purpose Driven and AICP Next Awards/Branded Content & Entertainment. It was directed by Dan Krauss and Paul Haggis.

Saville Productions is no stranger to producing award-winning brand-sponsored documentaries. "5B" also garnered multiple Lions at Cannes, including last year's Grand Prix award. The company also produced the Cannes Lions and Clio-winning brand-sponsored doc "Lo and Behold," for NetScout and the searing don't text and drive doc titled "From One Second To The Next," for AT&T, both directed by Werner Herzog.
Saville Productions started production on "5B" with UM and Johnson & Johnson two years ago. The medical device, pharmaceutical and consumer product company was looking for a way to celebrate the incredible dedication of nurses and caregivers. After doing months of exhaustive research, Maconick and Saville found J&J their story. "5B" documents the creation of the first AIDS ward at San Francisco General Hospital during the 80's AIDS epidemic. It's a story of nurses and caregivers who took extraordinary care of AIDS patients, not knowing how the disease was contracted. So impactful was the doc that the film was purchased by Verizon Media for theatrical distribution.
